Robot Driver

Robot Driver sounds like it could be an intense and cool like Ryan Gosling in Drive or quirky fun like Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver or a scifi noir of an autonomous car chauffeur to bad, bad people. Instead it’s about a guy who buys a new general purpose robot each year to drive him around and run errands in a Tim Dorsey Florida Roadkill sort of humorous way. Except the book isn’t funny. Or comprehensible. Or particularly accurate on robots or autonomous vehicles. I guess this helps keep balance in the universe, for every self-published knockout like The Wrong Unit, there’s a one that will have, at best, limited appeal.
